ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR ARMS CONTROL AND DISARMAMENT (IACD)

The Institute for Arms Control and Disarmament was founded in 2021 to provide new analysis and tools for arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation policymaking.

IACD's activities cover control of conventional weapons, particularly those banned in international conflict, and weapons that pose an existential threat to humanity, including nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. IACD combines traditional policy analysis with the development of tools to apply data and insights from open source intelligence, geolocation, data mining and other newer methodologies to arms control.

In addition to its current research projects, IACD provides periodic workshops to policymakers, researchers and journalists on the application of various methodologies for arms control. The next workshop, a guide to the use of commercial satellite imagery for arms control research, will be held on 12 November 2022. Register here.
